I don't know if you've heard, but Barbie is a pretty big brand. There was this movie about Barbie last year that made like a jillion dollars, and I guess there's a popular toy line or something too. Well then, it only makes sense that a fresh barbie videogame is in the works. Barbie Project Friendship is coming from Outright Games. It will support 2-player local co-op when it arrives in October.
Project Friendship stars Barbie "Malibu" Roberts and Barbie "Brooklyn" Roberts, two Barbies. The duo's objective is to save the Malibu Waves Community Center "with a total glam makeover." Players will explore multiple areas, unlock outfits, and engage in various minigames. The protagonists will interact with Ken, Teresa, Nikki, and other Barbie characters.
While most Barbie dolls are grown-up characters, this game has a deliberately youthful art style that makes the characters look more like teenagers. Project Friendship is actually based on the Netflix Barbie animated films and series, including Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures and Barbie A Touch of Magic. The game, like the Netflix animations, is aimed at a younger audience rather than adults.
Barbie Project Friendship will come to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam on October 25.
