The Care Bears have always been a decently popular children's property, but they've never had a proper console game (just a GameBoy Advance title). That will change on October 24 when Forever Entertainment releases Care Bears: To The Rescue on Switch and Steam. This one is based on the Care Bears: Unlock the Magic show that's apparently streamable on Max, and it will support 4-player local co-op, baby. That's enough players for a real Care Bear Stare, I reckon.
The new game will feature seven playable characters, including Funshine Bear, Share Bear, Cheer Bear, Good Luck Bear, and Grumpy Bear.
It will also feature:
- Diverse Worlds: Explore different themed worlds, each with its own set of obstacles, enemies, and unique visual identity. From the icy landscapes to the beach’s calming waves.
- Unique Belly Badge Powers: Use each Care Bear’s special abilities to overcome obstacles, unlock secret pathways, and heal enemies. Create rainbow bridges, activate old machinery or lighten up dark paths!
- Engaging Multiplayer Mode: Play with friends and family in local multiplayer mode. Work together to combine belly badge powers for greater effects and bring teammates back into the action with cooperative gameplay mechanics.
- Collectibles and Replayability: Gather caring energy and collectible stickers throughout levels. Collectible stickers feature details of characters, locations and items from Care Bear’s rich lore.
- Challenging Mini-Games: After completing each world, face a unique mini-game that ties into the story!
- Accessible Gameplay: For younger or less seasoned players, an "Easy Mode" is available, allowing them to enjoy the game without worrying about losing health points.
While the graphics are nothing fancy, the 4-player local co-op and low price point make this one a game that should be on any Care Bears fan's radar.
Care Bears: To The Rescue will cost $14.99. It's coming to Switch, Steam, and GOG on Thursday, October 24. Xbox and PlayStation versions should arrive sometime after that.
