Guitar Hero 5 Wii Won't Need Game Specific Friend Codes

It would appear that Wii gamers, jealous of the easy online capabilities offered by the Xbox 360 and the PS3, will be pleased with this news.  Game specific friend codes might be on their way out!  Guitar Hero 5 will be among the first games to use the Wii console codes for online play.  No more entering long codes for each game you want to play online sounds pretty good to us.  Vicarious Visions CEO Karthik Bala gave more details to the folks over at IGN.

For GH5, we've implemented support for your global Wii Friend Codes. If you've got friends in your Wii address book, they'll automatically be added to your friends list in game, so you can easily connect up with them in online multiplayer games.

I guess Nintendo figured out this online thing just might catch on.  The Wii version of the game looks to be packed with exclusive features, notably DS connectivity, in the form of a minigame.  It's nice to see the trillion-selling console get first class treatment.  If only all those instrument controllers music game fans own were compatible across platforms...
