Welcome to Beyond Co-Op, a weekly piece that talks about industry stories that may or may not be related to co-op gaming.
The stories for this week:
- Duke Nukem Forever Actually Coming and PAX This Weekend
- Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Coming to PS3 w/Move Support
- Epic/Chair Brings Unreal Engine to Apple's iOS with Project Sword
- Telltale Shows off Back to the Future Game
- Batman: Brave and the Bold, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions This Week
Duke Nukem Forever Actually Coming and PAX This Weekend
The rumors had been flying around since Take Two denied 3DRealms money to finish Duke Nukem Forever last year and stripped the game’s assets from them. Rumor was that the development went to Gearbox where Randy Pitchford, himself having worked on Duke Nukem 3D, runs the show.
On the first day of PAX Prime 2K announced that Duke Nukem Forever was being worked on by Gearbox and that it would be out in 2011. Randy even went so far as to say the game is in the “polishing” section of development. The game was even playable on the PAX floor.
It’s amazing we’re actually going to see this game and I hope it is a good one because I remember the original quite well.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Coming to PS3 w/Move Support
JustAddWater let us know about the first Oddworld game they would be working on: a PS3 remake of the fantastic Xbox-only Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath and will include Move support when it releases around Easter of 2011. I’m pretty excited about this since the game was really good and it should be interesting to see the Move support it includes.

Epic/Chair Brings Unreal Engine to Apple's iOS with Project Sword
Along with Apple showing off some new items at their press conference this week, Epic and Chair came by to show off Project Sword, coming to the iOS (so iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch). The only sad news here is that Chair is not working on Shadow Complex 2.

Telltale Shows off Back to the Future Game
Earlier this year we heard that Telltale was working on a Back to the Future game, based on the fantastic 1985 movie. They showed off some art with the characters looking much like their real-life counterparts. They also announced that Christopher Lloyd would voice Doc Brown and Bob Gale, the writer of the three movies, will be helping with the story. Only thing not announced was whether Michael J. Fox would lend his voice or not. It may be difficult with his continued problems with Parkinson’s disease, but it would be cool to have him be part of it as well.

Batman: Brave and the Bold, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions This Week
Lots of games this week ahead of next week’s Playstation Move release. First up is the Wii’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold which looks like quite the interesting game. Maybe we can have a second excellent Batman game? The PSP only (not available to Go, only in UMD platform) Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep should be an interesting game. I love KH games, but I don’t know whether I’m going to pick this up. The other major release is Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Can the game finally take the license out of the quagmire it’s been in. The last game, Web of Shadows wasn’t bad, but it could have been better. There are other games out this week as well, but these are the major ones in my mind.
