People say to me that I am as old as the hills. Well, I'm not quite old enough to remember the Atari 2600 or the game Star Raiders. Having phoned my older brother it appears that Star Raiders combined strategic use of a Galaxy tactical map and FPS elements – sounds like a cross between Elite and X-Wing to me. UK members of Co-Optimus may be upset to realise that this is not the much anticipated adaptation of maize based snacks Space Raiders – the dream of a pickled onion level must remain a mere fancy.
Although Star Raiders does not provide savoury snack based entertainment, it is planned as a 2 player co-op experience throughout the campaign. The updated version of the game will keep the main gameplay elements of the original, combining strategy with space combat. It will also have new graphics and the ability to modify your space craft to meet you needs. With a planned 2011 release on XBLA, PSN and PC, the game is stuck in the Star Port for now.
