Resistance 3 Returns to Story Based Co-Op [UPDATE]

The first Resistance: Fall of Men featured a two player local co-op campaign that was played through the story, which we enjoyed quite a bit.  When Resistance 2 launched with an 8 player co-op mode that was separate from the campaign, one without a real story, we had mixed feelings about the direction.  Today we have good news if you preferred Resistance 1 over its sequel for your co-op fixings.

Resistance 3 will feature full co-op play throughout the campaign with two separate characters to play.  You'll play as Capelli or John Harper through a world that's thrust into an ice age following the Chimeran invasions.  Though not confirmed, we know both online and local co-op play to be an option.  We also wouldn't be surprised to see some extra form of co-op present as well, possibly similar to what Insomniac did for Resistance 2.

The full details are revealed in this months issue of Game Informer magazine so be sure to check it out and check out their Resistance 3 hub.  You can also find a bit about the article on the Insomniac Forums.

Update:  The Insomniac community manager has confirmed both online and split screen play, but has also confirmed the 8 player co-op mode will not be making a return.
