Welcome to Beyond Co-Op, a weekly piece that talks about industry stories that may or may not be related to co-op gaming.
The stories for this week:
- id Says Without Zenimax, RAGE Would Have Been Rushed
- Capcom Sought Backlash with Dante's New Look To Fire Up Publicity
- Fallout: New Vegas a Buggy Mess on All Systems
- Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright to Team Up on 3DS
- Wallet Stays at Level Red Next Week
id Says Without Zenimax, RAGE Would Have Been Rushed
Not sure exactly what id is trying to say here with them saying that without the purchase of them by Zenimax that the upcoming RAGE would have been rushed. Are they saying that EA Partners were pushing them towards getting the game out ASAP? I have a hard time believing that because it seems as if EA Partners gives its companies all the time they need to release a game.
RAGE releases on September 13, 2011. Yes, it is still almost a year away.

Capcom Sought Backlash with Dante's New Look To Fire Up Publicity
I was not a big fan when the new Dante was shown off for the new DmC game coming from Ninja Theory. Well, it seems Capcom was seeking the backlash it got from the new Dante and that they were hoping it would fire up some conversation in the gaming community. My question is that I think Devil May Cry 4 did well in both sales and reviews, so why try to drum up interest again by bastardizing the main character in the series?

Fallout: New Vegas a Buggy Mess on All Systems
Although some people are not experiencing bugs with Fallout: New Vegas, many are including reviewers. There is some game ending bugs supposedly. Now, I haven’t played the game personally, but social networks and reviews are full of talk about bugs. Obsidian Entertainment has a bad track record with bugs in their games, so really this should come as no surprise. For those people man tens of hours in and see their game end with no way of continuing, I feel your pain. Hopefully a patch will fix whatever bugs you’re having.

Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright to Team Up on 3DS
Capcom and Level 5 join up to make the need of a Nintendo 3DS that much greater, working on a game that will combine Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright. I can’t come up with a word of how awesome this news is. These are two of my favorite handheld game series. It is sounding like it will be a collaborative effort and some pics and video were shown off as well. I can’t wait and this certainly makes me want to pick up a 3DS at some point.

Wallet Stays at Level Red Next Week
More big games this week, some Move titles and some games looking for redemption, but the threat level stays at red. Fable III, Rock Band 3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, The Sims 3 (on consoles/handhelds), Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition, and WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 come out this week. All are pretty established games and almost all are sequels to popular games. The Fight: Lights Out (Playstation Move) comes out next week and it will be interesting to see the sales numbers. Tony Hawk Shred comes out this week, looking for redemption from the poorly reviewed Ride last year and then there is another music/rhythm game coming out with Power Gig, but sales will probably pale in comparison to Rock Band 3 for instance. Things don’t get any easier the upcoming weeks either, so be ready for your wallet to scream.
