Look at that screen shot. Doesn't it just make your eyes bleed? The aspect ratio alone makes me furious.
In a recent interview with IGN Microsoft Game Studios Corporate Vice President Phil Spencer spoke about the possibility, or lack thereof, of releasing HD versions of Halo and Halo 2.
I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea...I'm going to think about it from the customer's perspective, and are we really delivering something of value to the customer at a price that they want?
There you have it. You have been told (in a round about way) that you don't want this. At least not for the price Microsoft is willing to charge you. End of discussion.
Spencer went on to say:
We obviously have a lot of new things going on, so the thought of re-doing a bunch of things is probably difficult to just weave into the overall portfolio. If you can provide real value to the customer, there could be possibilities for that, but I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it.
I'm sure that's what Hollywood said right before they made a movie out of Starsky and Hutch. While Halo HD may not be in the works, I will proudly point out that Halo: Combat Evolved 3D has not even been mentioned. That's right. There is not an iota of evidence that Halo: Combat Evolved 3D even exists. Flap your wings, little butterfly.
Recent remakes and re-releases have had mixed success, just look at the Bionic Commando remake as opposed to Bionic Commando: Re-Armed. One thing is certain. If they think enough people will buy it, they will make it.
What about you, fair reader? Are you interested in Halo HD?
