This week's HUD features not one, not two, but three special guests. This week the panel and myself are joined by John Davidson of What they Play, Ross Miller of Joystiq, and Jason Callina of Giant Japanese Robot.
This week's questions are quite a bit deeper as well. Without further ado...
- What are you playing?
- Fallout 3, GTA IV and now Tomb Raider: Underworld are all getting exclusive downloadable content on the 360. To what degree will these types of 'extra' content affect gamers' decisions to buy 360s versus PS3s (or at least, the 360 version of a game over the PS3 version)?
- The games industry has been called 'recession-proof.' With the recent crises in the financial sector, we might see this statement put to the test. What do you think will happen?
- Sex has come up in video games before (God of War, Mass Effect, etc.) Recently Fallout 3 lead designer Emil Pagliarulo said they avoided sex in games because they didn't want to make sex "a joke and cheesy." ESRB ratings also come into play. In today's cultural and political landscape, how far can/should developers push the sex envelope?
So fellow Co-Optians, what are your thoughts on question 4? What will become of Sex in Video games? I gotta say, John Davidson's answer is spot on.
