Eurogamer 2011 is fast approaching, which reminds me of my co-op surprise of last year; Kirby's Epic Yarn, a game I previewed at the show. Whilst that was a fun two player co-op title, Hal Laboratory have upped the stakes this year with the 4 player drop in/drop out Kirby's Return to Dreamland. A new trailer details the game and shows some 4 player action.
Kirby's Return to Dreamland comes out on October 24th in the US, so there is not long to suck up as much information as you can before the game is barfed out by a giant pink blob thing. Co-op fans will be able to play as 4 Kirbys, but can also choose Waddle Dee, King Dedede or Meta Knight instead. Sounds like one trippy group of characters to me.
The below trailer shows some manic 4 player action after the 1.35 minute mark and suggests the game will have a similar feel to New Super Mario Brothers Wii. The game looks like a genuinely fun 4 player platformer that all the family can enjoy, a reason to dust off the old Wii and fetch the Wiimotes out of the dog basket.
