Christian Cantamessa, co-writer/designer of several Rockstar games (including Manhunt, Manhunt 2, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Co-Optimus community favorite Red Dead Redemption) has signed on to direct a post-apocalyptic film - which he also co-wrote - with a very original sounding premise.
Wake Cycle will explore the tensions that arise in an underground bunker made to keep the world's greatest scientists in hibernation after a nuclear incident. Every six months a nintey-minute window of breathable air allows two custodians to wake up, monitor conditions, and return to sleep. When one of their hibernation pods is damaged, the struggle is on to determine who goes back to sleep and who runs out of air.
Sounds like it has the potential to be a great thriller, and it will be neat to see how a very talented game maker fares behind this project. Christian also directed the short film How I Survived the Zombie Apocalypse.
