You may have heard that Voltron: Defender of the Universe is coming out this week. This will mean different things to different generations of gamers. For a few of us at Co-Optimus, it means "dynotherms connected, infracells up, mega thrusters are go!" That's Voltron speak for "COME AT ME BRO!" Some of us grew up watching Voltron, and it was more than one staff members' favorite cartoon from the 80's.
Yesterday, while discussing the upcoming twin stick shooter, I told one of my fellow Voltron fans: "I have high hopes but low expectations." After watching the following video, I am at the same time both optimistic and discouraged. It has a very Assault Heroes vibe, which isn't a bad thing- right up until the boss fights. Wow. I hope they're so bad they're good. Like most of you, I'll find out tomorrow. Check it out and let us know what you think.
Voltron: Defender of the Universe should be out tomorrow on the XBLA Marketplace and PSN. It supports two player local co-op and five player online co-op. (No word on combo co-op, yet.) Stay tuned for our review.
Spoiler alert: There may be final boss footage after the 2:07 mark. I don't know for sure.
