Anomaly: Warzone Earth has been dubbed a "Tower Offense" game. Players form an assault squad and try to defeat alien defense towers. Simple enough. The squad is not controlled directly, rather a player chooses unit paths on the battlefield. In the PC, Mac, and XBLA versions, you could control a commander who would help advancing units by distributing power-ups. Alas, these were all single player affairs.
The new PSN version will have an exclusive local co-op mode. One player commands the units while another plans strategy. I have no idea how satisfied a second player will feel playing strategist, or even how it will work. I guess that's why we review these things. Check out the video below and see the game in action.
The developer, 11 bit Studios, is calling this a co-op "mode," so we don't know if there will be a full campaign or simply a smaller mission set. We'll keep you posted.
Anomaly: Warzone Earth supports two player local co-op exclusively on the PSN. It will launch sometime this summer. It's expected to be priced at $9.99.
