Wrath of the Lich king has finally been released in World of Warcraft Classic. Reach the frozen shores of Northrend by learning the Cold Weather Flying ability.
With the release of World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, many players are itching to go to Northrend and farm tons of WotLK classic gold. However, getting to the frozen north might not be as easy as many heroes think. Aside from the level requirement, gamers will need the ability to fly through the harsh weather of the Lich King’s domain. This guide will help players acquire their characters' Cold Weather Flying skills.
What is Wrath Classic Cold Weather Flying?
Before players can farm WotLK items in Northrend, they must ensure they can travel to that area. The Cold Weather Flying skill allows players to use flying mounts in the frozen North. In addition, it also enables Druid heroes to use their Flight Form or Swift Flight Form in that area.
The Cold Weather Flying’s primary purpose is to allow access to Northrend since there are no other methods to get to the land of the undead at level 68+. This shows how crucial it is for players to pick up this skill if they ever want to experience the new expansion. Fortunately, acquiring this ability is not as difficult as it seems.
How to Unlock WoTLK Cold Weather Flying?
Getting the ability to fly to Northrend is straightforward and doesn’t need any extra steps aside from talking to an NPC. To get this skill, you must speak with vendors selling it. Here are all the Trainers that can provide you with Cold Weather Flying:
Hira Snowdawn at Krasus’ Landing in Dalaran
Roxi Ramrocket at K3 in Storm Peaks
Pilot Vic at River’s Heart in Sholazar Basin
Learning Cold Weather Flying from these NPCs will cost around 1000 gold, so this transaction saves up a bit of money. Aside from these, there are specific requirements that your character should have if they are the first ones that will be learning this ability or if they are alts. Here are all the needs for learning this skill:
Character should be at least level 77+ (for the first character) or level 68 (for alts)
Must have a flying mount
Must have at least Expert riding skill
The first character that will be used to learn this skill needs to be at a higher level compared to alts. Once this unit has discovered Cold Weather Flying, they can buy the ability another time to mail it to other characters in your roster. Alts can learn this skill at a much lower rank (level 68). Here are the details of the spell:
Cost: None
Range: Self
Cast Time: Instant
Cooldown: N/A
GCD: 0 Seconds
Effect: Dummy
Duration: N/A
School: Physical
Mechanic: N/A
Dispel Type: N/A
GCD Category: N/A
Players should note that Cold Weather Flying does not replace the current flying skill. For swift flying mounts or flight form, heroes will still need to pay the total cost if they haven’t reached Artisan Riding yet.
How to Reach Northrend without Cold Weather Flying?
It is possible for players at level 77 to get to Northend without using the Cold Weather Flying ability. You must visit “Honest” Max at K3 in Storm Peaks to do this. After interacting with him, he will allow you to use a Loaned Gryphon Reins for Alliance players or Loaned Wind Rider Reins for Horde heroes.
These normal-speed flying mounts can only be used in Storm Peaks, Sholazar Basin, and Icecrown. This is a decent alternative to the skill, but players should still get Cold Weather Flying. Once this ability has been acquired, adventurers can no longer use the mounts obtained from “Honest” Max.
