Get OSRS GP and all sorts of rewards quickly by having the best magic staves when doing Tombs of Amascut! Players can either go with a budget or premium option.
From the cheapest to the most expensive, here are the best magic staves players can use in Old School RuneScape.
Tombs of Amascut or Raids 3 is a raid where you will need all three combat styles. You will need to spend quite a bit of OSRS GP on your gear, but the potential to earn OSRS gold by completing the raid is also enormous. This is because you'll be able to get valuable uniques such as the Masori armor or the Shadow of Tumeken, which are worth millions and millions of OSRS GP. On top of that, the regular rewards for completing the raid are also worth a good chunk of OSRS gold.
Complimentary OSRS Magic Gear to Use With Staves
For the complementary magic gear, you can go with the Ahrim set and the Serpentine Helm or the Netiznot Faceguard, or you can go expensive with the Ancestral set, including the Ancestral hat. To ensure you got everything you need for your magic set, you'll also need to adventure in the wilderness and complete the mage arena 2 to get your imbued god cape, as it is the only magic cape strong enough for the raid.
You'll also need an Occult Necklace, or if you want fewer switches, you can bring an Amulet of Blood Fury or Amulet of Fury in the neck slot. For the hands, grab a Tormented Bracelet or the inexpensive Borrows gloves from the Recipe for Disaster quest. For the ring slot, either choose an imbued Seers’ ring, a brimstone ring, or the best in slot unique from the Tombs of Amascut itself, the Lightbearer.
Since all of the magic staves you could use in Tombs of Amascut are single-handed, you will also need an offhand. The raid's unique, the Elidinis ward, is the cheaper variant, costing 13m OSRS GP. At the same time, its upgrade, which uses the arcane sigil, is the expensive pick costing more than 100 mil OSRS gold and requiring 90 Smithing and Prayer to create.
Trident of the Sea
The Trident of the Sea is the cheapest magic staff you can use to take on Tombs of Amascut. You can obtain it from the Kraken slayer boss, the cave krakens variants with 87 slayer, or the Grand Exchange. You will need to charge it. At the maximum magical level of 123, when you use the smelling salts to boost your level within Tombs of Amascut, you'll be able to max hit 36 with it with an attack speed of once every four ticks.
Trident of the Swamp
The Trident of the Swamp or Toxic Trident is the upgraded version of the Trident of the Seas. You can upgrade it by using a magic fang, a unique drop from Zulrah on a Trident of the Seas. Similarly, to the toxic blowpipe, this magic staff from Zulrah has a 1 out of 4 chance to envenom your target, and as such, you will deal some damage over time when using it. This is especially useful if you pick the serpentine helm as your headgear because this other Zulrah unique will increase your chance to envenom your enemy to 100 percent. You will reset the dot timer each time you have a successful hit.
However, the bosses within raids 3 are immune to venom; Elidinis' Warden and Tumeken’s warden, Ba-ba, Akha, Zebak, and Kephri are all immune to venom. The Trident of the Swamp has an attack range of 7 squares distance—the same as the less powerful version. The maximum hit at level 123 is 39, so you will overall deal more damage while using it.
Sanguinesti Staff
The Sanguinesti Staff at almost 100m OSRS GP is a relatively expensive pick. The Theatre of Blood unique requires level 82 magic to wield. The passive ability from this weapon will restore a fair amount of your hp throughout the raid. It is one of the must-have weapons if you want to complete the raid with specific invocations that limit the use of food pots and consumables. Plus, it’s a great weapon should you modify the raid with invocations that alter the number of raid consumables you'll receive. You'll get the same range distance of 7, but you'll have more damage output and need to spend more on charging the staff.
Shadow of Tumeken
The best pick to complete Tombs of Amascut with is the most valuable raid unique, which is worth close to 2 billion OSRS GP and can only be obtained at higher raid difficulty levels as a rare drop. Tumeken’s Shadow is the newest and the strongest powered staff, and it's the best in slot (BIS) weapon for tombs of Amascut and many other pieces of PvM content. It has an attack range of 8; you will need level 85 magic to wield it. It will give you a large magic attack bonus of plus 35, and it will hit for 42 damage on a max hit at level 123 in Tombs of Amascut. However, this fantastic weapon will give you a magic boost with its passive effect, allowing you to hit more often and stronger by increasing all the other magic attack bonuses from your other equipment. This makes it the most substantial possible pick against monsters vulnerable to magic. However, its nearly 2 billion OSRS gold price makes it an unrealistic pick for most players and, simultaneously, a highly desirable drop.
