E3 2009 Co-Op and Gaming Predictions

E3 kicks off next week, and with that a plethora of gaming announcements.  While we at Co-Optimus hope to hear some great co-op news, it may be hard to top last year's show.  We decided to have a little fun today and give some predictions about E3 and what will be announced to the world, both co-op and not.

Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo -  Nintendo will unveil a new Zelda game that features co-op play similar to Super Mario Galaxy.  Player two will control a fairy in the game and assist link throughout.  Sony will show something completely original from one of their 2nd party studios that's strongly focused on a story based co-op play.  Peter Molyneux unveils a completely new game that's not in the Fable universe, but takes cooperative play to a new level.  It's gimmick will be completely odd at first but then begin to make sense.

Katrina "ShadowKatRegn" Pawloswki  I had my fingers crossed for a co-op Oddworld experience; like Munch's Oddysee with the two different characters.

Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin - I think we'll see cross-game co-op from the GRAW/Rainbow Six universe.  Perhaps 50+ levels of Special Forces Co-Op in Modern Warfare 2.  I have the feeling that someone is going to really wow the shooter crowd.   Capcom will have more tricks up their sleeves, and if they continue the way they have been, it could be good for co-op gamers.

Mike "pheriannath" Katsufrakis - I predict Sony will be the only one out of the big three to announce new hardware, with the rumored PSP sidegrade.  I'll go out on a limb and say Bungie will tease new IP along with their ODST footage.  The new Syndicate game will have co-op.  Deus Ex 3 will be shown (finally).  Atlus will show not only the Persona 1 PSP remake, but tease Persona 2.  Final Fantasy XIII will be given a firm release date instead of simply "2010".  Criterion will finally speak about a followup to Burnout Paradise.  Gran Turismo 5 will be delayed at least 2 more years.

Marc "DjinniMan" Allie - My only real wish is for co-op in the Starcraft 2 campaign.  I'll go out on a limb and predict that Marvel UA will drop the fusion power attacks.

Loren "AgtFox" Halek - Alan Wake will finally be shown, as will Splinter Cell Conviction, though it won't be anything like we originally saw.  Bungie will show off a new franchise.  This is the year of the racing game.  FUEL, Split/Second, Blur, a new Bunrout, Forza 3, GRID 2, NFS revamp, etc.  And God of War 3 will be game of the show.

What predictions do you have for E3 2009, co-op or not?

While no one from Co-Optimus will be attending this year, our sister site Colony of Gamers will have staff there.   They'll (hopefully) be feeding us direct info from the show floor!  You can follow them at their Twitter Feed just for the show! E3 2009 starts Monday, June 1st when Microsoft kicks off their Press Event.
