The Co-Op Experience
While in the hideout, you can press the 2-player-icon under the missions icon to invite a friend. There are three variants of loot distribution available (Team = the game assigns it to a player but will be free-for-all after 2 minutes, System = same as team but no timer and Free = everyone can grab everything).
Teaming up provides an XP and item drop bonus. But enemies have increased heath.
