Conduit 2's co-op mode is an invasion mode. One of the developers likened it to Gears’ Horde mode. This mode, like the other multi-player modes, can be played locally split-screen with 2 to 4 players. There’s a variety of maps and enemies, as expected with this sort of thing. I was sad to find out, however, that the new bosses will not show up in the invasion mode. One feature that sounds like it could be very interesting is the role character customization plays in this mode. You choose which type of character to play (I was told there will be different races and such to pick from), but this choice does not simply control how your character looks. There are full armor sets you can choose which give you different stats based on what type of character you picked. You can also arrange full weapon sets for your character, which sounds extremely convenient upon load-out. No more fussing around getting things exactly how you want them. In addition, there are unlockables you can earn to further customize your character.
I never played the first Conduit, but from what I saw at the SEGA event, Conduit 2 has a lot of promise. The new release date for Conduit 2 is February 2011 on the Wii. It will support the Headbanger Headset as well as classic controllers. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
