A free update is arriving this week for Star Wars Battlefront that will expand upon its co-op offerings. On Thursday, a new "Skirmish Mode" will be added to the title that will allow players to test their skills against A.I. bots solo or with a local buddy.
If you ever thought about venturing off into Star Wars: Battlefront this May the 4th is the cheapest time to pick up a copy. Especially on PC, where through May 11th Origin has the price reduced 60% to only $23.99 (cheapest ever by $6). There's even a free 4-hour trial for PC gamers if you'd rather get your toes wet before cannonballing into the action. The Deluxe has a similar percentage price break.
I'll be honest, my loyal co-opateers, we've got less than a month until The Force Awakens comes out and, as such, Star Wars Battlefront is dominating the airwaves. While its co-op offerings are... let's say "lean", it gives players everywhere a chance to avenge the death of the most aptly named X-Wing pilot in the galaxy.
Join the Rebels or the Imperials in Star Wars Battlefront. The game is out for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC and features huge online competitive battles. Co-Op fans get to enjoy survival based missions with one other player.
For most of us, Star Wars Battlefront is not even out until tomorrow, but that has not stopped EA from announcing their Season Pass and providing some information on how the game will develop through 2016. As well as providing four new expansions packs, the Season Pass has an added incentive as these chosen users will get the new content two weeks earlier than anyone else.
When Star Wars meets Battlefront, everyone wins! Well, except for the guys on the ground. They all lose pretty hard. Whether they die alone from laser burns on some backwater planet, or get force choked to death by a lightsaber-wielding sociopath for failing to secure a checkpoint, their suffering is our delight. I'm sure the infantry on both sides are dreading Star Wars Battlefront's November 17th release date. However, we can celebrate with a launch trailer chock full of lasers!
Outside of the odd MMO, it's not often that players get to experience the Star Wars universe cooperatively. I suppose this makes a certain kind of sense when you consider that "wars" is in the franchise name, but nevertheless, the desire to blast Droidekas, Sith, Rebel Scum, etc. with a buddy was starting to reach critical mass. That was, until Star Wars Battlefront was announced to have a dedicated two player co-op mode.
I know the Battlefront games are supposed to focus on those poor, unnamed schmucks who get wasted in all of the Star Wars films. You know, the ground troops crushed by AT-AT's, or wasted by Stormtroopers, or maybe ravaged by renegade rancors. But, to be honest, if we're just focusing all our attention on guys with laser rifles blowing each other away for one cause or another, it just doesn't feel like Star Wars. Thankfully, the folks down at DICE agree. At Gamescom this year, they revealed the "Fighter Squadron" mode for Star Wars Battlefront.
As the Star Wars engine ramps up for the December release of Episode 7, and DICE is hard at work making sure Star Wars Battlefront lives up to the stellar pedigree set by the first two games. The game's November 17th release date marches steadily on, a few more tidbits of information have come from the usually sealed lips down at DICE, though not all of it might be what you want to hear.
It's not all gritty, tooth and nail PvP combat in Star Wars Battlefront. The galaxy far, far away is fraught with peril, and sometimes you need a buddy to blast your way out of trouble. Sony's press conference showed footage of exactly what you and your pal can do against wave after wave of those iconic stormtroopers who are fed up with a pair of rebels.
While many of us have been waiting a very long time for a true next generation installment of the Star Wars Battlefront series, some of us will have to wait just a little bit longer than others. Recently, Electronic Arts confirmed that the new Battlefront title will be playable first on Xbox One due to the EA Access program.
GameSpy has recently come under new ownership by a company called Glu Mobile. Unfortunately it looks like the first thing the incoming regime did is what happens a lot in corporate takeovers, they trimmed the fat so to speak. With that they shutdown a lot of multiplayer servers for several older PC games. Many co-op titles like Neverwinter Nights, Hidden and Dangerous 2, SWAT 4, and Star Wars: Battlefront no longer had any multiplayer functionality - though some games do allow LAN or direct connection options.
