Of all the nostalgic beat 'em ups to follow in TMNT: Shredder's Revenge's footsteps in the last couple of years, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind has been the most promising. It features excellent pixel art, 6-player local co-op, and online play. Rita's Rewind has finally arrived on consoles and Steam just in time for the holidays, and it's making good on most of its promises, though some versions don't have online play just yet.

This year has seen the arrival of several high-profile licensed co-op games, such as TMNT: Mutants Unleashed, The Karate Kid: Street Rumble, and G.I. Joe: The Wrath of Cobra. One more licensed game will arrive just before the year's end: the highly anticipated Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind from Digital Eclipse and Atari. The Power Rangers' latest game arrives on consoles and PC on December 10.

As soon as Digital Eclipse announced Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind, the upcoming beat 'em up based on the original Power Rangers TV series, fans wondered Tommy would play a role in the game. Over the years, a great many Power Rangers shows have come and gone. There have been several video game adaptations too, including the Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid fighting game. It has been seven years since the last Power Rangers beat 'em up, though, which Digital Eclipse is now fixing. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind is a fresh beat 'em up based on the MMPR TV show and featuring both local and online co-op for up to five players.

The next entry in the Dark Picture Anthology, House of Ashes, now has an official release date as well as a story trailer. This will be the third installment in the anthology, after Man of Medan and Little Hope, and there are another five (yes, FIVE!) planned before it's concluded. That's a lot of Dark Pictures! 

If you were looking for some new, spooky video game to play with some buddies this Halloween, well you're in luck! The newest entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology, Little Hope, is available today for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Supermassive Games made quite the name for itself with its first interactive horror title, 2015's Until Dawn, and the first entry in its Dark Pictures Anthology, Man of Medan, earned additional praise for the way it allowed you to enjoy this kind of game with friends.

There seems to be an ever-increasing number of games that offer RPG elements in their mix and there is a huge number of games in 2020 that boast an extreme depth to their  customizability. In this vein, Popup Dungeon has taken a direct approach upon launch, giving players "[o]ut of the Box: 1500+ abilities, 420+ items, 200+ fully-voiced enemies, 36 playable characters. ” If this sheer volume of options isn’t enough for you in a $24.99 RPG, maybe the adorable folded-paper design will win you over. Out of nowhere, PlatinumGames announced they would like to bring their sleeper hit from 2013, The Wonderful 101, back from the WiiU grave where it was laid to rest (alongside the console). With a successful Kickstarter campaign to back it that currently sits at over $1,700,000 with an original goal of $50,000, the game is officially returning to Nintendo via the Switch come May 19th, 2020. The game may well find its way to other consoles, as the Kickstarter campaign also exceeded the $250,000 and $500,000 stretch goals are to get the game to Steam and PlayStation 4, respectively.

Back in August, Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco released the first entry in their interactive survival/horror Dark Pictures Anthology series, Man of Medan. The title allows you and some friends (either locally or online) to assume the role of different characters as they set out on a three-hour tour, only for things to go very wrong. Now, for a limited time, if you've bought the game (or plan on buying it), but don't have any local friends with whom you can play it, you can use a free "Friend's Pass" to invite a friend to join you for a complete playthrough online.

SuperMassive Games, best known for  Until Dawn, teamed up with publisher Bandai Namco last year and announced a new anthology of titles that would be in that same "interactive drama horror" genre. The full anthology is referred to as "The Dark Pictures Anthology" and the first of these, Man of Medan, is slated for a release at the end of August, and it was recently revealed that the game will feature two different co-op modes to enjoy with friends.

There's a new asymmetrical multiplayer game in town called Bossgard and for this week's "Let's Play Co-Op," Mike, Jason, and Nick donned their viking helmuts and viking gear to take on some killer bread! In this 1 v 5 game, 5 players take on the roles of different vikings to bring down 1 big boss. You can have humans in all of those slots, or you can do 5 humans vs 1 A.I. boss (our preference). The title is currently in Early Access on Steam and there's certainly some areas where you can see this is still a work in progress, like the balancing between the two sides, but there's certainly promise.

Just a meager handful of games were shown off at the Nintendo Switch unveiling this January. Disappointing, but some publishers have stepped up to show their support for the portable/console system. Days after the presentation, Ubisoft announced three games for Switch, one of which is a definitive edition of our favorite armless co-op experience, Rayman Legends.
