Back in July of 2011 (ahhh, what a heady, magical time that was), we had some news of an upcoming (so it was believed) remake of the arcade version of Double Dragon II, now subtitled "Wander of the Dragons." Between that time and now, the series saw something of a reimagining in the form of Double Dragon: Neon, an effort that Paul found to be quite enjoyable whether playing the game solo or with a friend. Now, the announcement for Neon came around April of 2012 and the game saw release that September. Meanwhile, on the Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons front... Well, we've finally gotten some achievements, so maybe the game will see a release soon? Or at least, this year?
The list of achievements for Army of Two: Devil's Cartel recently dropped and I'll admit, I'm a little disappointed. There's not a single achievement for fist bumping your partner. Not one! People used to say wizard as an adjective, all by itself, just as we now use the word cool. It's true; I saw it in a movie once. But nowadays calling something wizard would just elicit looks of confusion. "Is he saying that Double Dragon: Neon's Achievements wear long robes and cast magic spells?" they might wonder. But what other noun used as an adjective could be more appropriate for an Achievement list that actually references Fred Savage's 1989 magnum opus film The Wizard? None, I say! As it turns out, pretty much all of Neon's Achievements overflow with the game's tongue-in-cheek style of humor and machismo.

There's a boat load of things to accomplish in the game including some gems like "Rip out 10 Gnaar Eyes" - that's what that picture is above. Yelling "ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCK" at your Kinect sadly won't unlock achievements for you in Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary, but it will allow you to chuck a grenade. Well, you have to say "grenade" for you to throw a grenade. Other voice commands include the ability to reload or switch between the HD and Classic graphic options. Sadly it seems my dreams of turning you into an in-game Cortana are not realized with the power of Kinect.
