At E3 2010 we checked out a new trailer for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood which looked awfully full of co-op. We were mistaken, and it's a real let-down for some of us. Even as a mode where you just co-op assassinate the bosses, co-op would have been a breath of fresh air for adventure games like this. But, the developers say it just wasn't possible.

Konami has just released a boatload of assets for Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker on the PSP.  Included in these screens are the cross overs with Assassin's Creed 2 and Monster Hunter as well as plenty of action, well, sneaking, shots of Snake and his co-op pals in action.

As much as I enjoyed undertaking 4 player co-op assassinations in Tenchu Z, it had more flaws than a Dubai super skyscraper.  Assassin's Creed 2 is the current leader in the silent, but deadly, genre of the stealth 'em up, but it was a solidly solo experience.  Great news; latest rumors suggest that a new game in the franchise (let us call it Assassin's Creed 3) will have a co-op mode.

2009 is rapidly coming to a close, and for gamers, it was one of the most solid years in a long time. We wrap up the year with Beyond Co-Op reviews of Dragon Age Origins, The Saboteur, Motorstorm Artic Edge, The Force Unleashed, Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, and Assassin's Creed 2.
