Ten years ago today Microsoft changed the console war from a battle between two, to a battle between three.  The Xbox, a big black box loaded with a "duke" controller became a staple of hardcore gamers.  It contained a hard drive and a network connection, and it was the beginning of a big change for consoles.  The system saw many great co-op games over it's life span, though none may be more iconic than the one it launched with in Halo.

It seems like just yesterday I was talking about our 1 year anniversary.  Time sure does fly.  Today Co-Optimus turns two and the Staff and I are extremely proud of what we've accomplished.  Co-Op gaming is more popular than ever; developers, publishers, and gamers have all joined in on the Co-Op Revolution.

We've heard from the staff, and we've heard from the developers, but now it's time to turn to our wonderful community of co-op enthusiasts as we continue to celebrate Co-Optimus' one-year anniversary.

As Co-Optimus celebrates its first birthday and the past year's staggering number of visitors, Ars Technica joins the celebration shortly after launching their own Ars 5.0 and announcement that traffic has doubled for the esteemed geeksite.

One year ago today we launched Co-Optimus.com with the hope of furthering cooperative gaming.  We had three main goals.
