While Frontier Developments' Elite: Dangerous has allowed for a group of players to team up and fly around the galaxy together and complete larger community goals, which are larger objectives within a sector to which all players contribute. Next year, though, the devs have a whole slew of updates planned that are collectively going under the title of "Beyond," and one of the first things that will be introduced are new co-op missions.
The space flight sim/cargo shipping game, Elite: Dangerous, will at long last make its way onto the PlayStation 4 next month. Starting next Tuesday, May 30, you can pre-order the title digitally on PSN in the U.S., or you can pre-order the boxed Legendary Edition. Either way, you'll have to wait another month until you can play.
Elite Dangerous has been out now for well over two years, but the updates and content keep rolling in. The latest update is a big one; adding longtime requested features like player avatars and multicrew ships!
Well now, what an unusual reveal. In a recent AMA on Reddit, CEO of Frontier Developments David Braben let slip the Xbox One release date for Elite: Dangerous. No press release fanfare, confetti, or even a big drumroll. Just a single line of text that read October 6, 2015.
At Video Game Character Career Day, it's not uncommon to see would-be heroes lined out the door at the Alien-Slaughtering Astronaut booth, or the Knight Who Kills Demons kiosk. Very rarely is there a line for the Virtual Trucker table since, well... Who really wants to haul cargo as a leisure activity? The eight player co-op fest of Elite: Dangerous may not appeal to the vast majority, but if you're a fan, you're a super fan.
It was just last week that co-op was added to the very in-depth, very massive space sim Elite: Dangerous. While the game is currently a PC title only, there are plans for the game to arrive on Mac, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 at some point in the future. When it does, it will bring the Wings expansion with it.
Ever since Elite: Dangerous was fully released last December, players have scoured thousands of systems for any reason whatsoever to use their fighter ship's wide array of weaponry. They'll use anything from protecting breakfast cereal shipments to investigating a lonely asteroid as an excuse to introduce a couple rival pilots to the cold floatiness of space. Now, they can do so with three fellow commanders at their side with the release of the Wings co-op mode!
A short video has been released for Elite: Dangerous, the new game in the long-running series of open world combat/space trading games. It shows off several minutes of gameplay and outlines the upcoming game's multiplayer modes, including a brief snippet of co-op play.
