This seems like a pretty good deal for those of you looking to purchase an Xbox One system this fall, but are hesitant to pick up any more games for your Xbox 360. Gamestop will let you trade in the Xbox 360 version of many of the games that are also launching on the Xbox One and receive the Xbox One version of the same game for only $10.
Being one of Nintendo’s current flagship titles, it’s no wonder that Pikmin 3 is getting the special treatment it deserves, and only a couple of weeks until launch at that! To celebrate its impending arrival, Pikmin 3 will be available to play at Gamestop next week, allowing gamers to get their hands on this Wii U title sooner than expected.
We’ve all seen a truck-load of trailers for Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel by now. So when do we actually get to try it out for ourselves? Confirmed by EA, next Tuesday will be our opportunity to try out the game’s co-op demo first hand (hopefully with a partner handy)!
Not every Kickstarter campaign sees it way to fruition. Such was the case, sadly, for Cadenza Interactive and their six-degrees-of-freedom cooperative shooter, Retrovirus. For some of these campaigns, that's the end of things - the game/movie/album/book will never be and the people involved move on to the next thing. For Cadenza, it was simply time to move on to the next plan. As Dylan Barker told us when we spoke to him last month just prior to the campaign's conclusion, Cadenza had some other plans in place to help see them through should the worst occur. Turns out, those plans were to find a major distributor.
Halo 4’s fall release is quickly approaching, and online retail stores are updating their pages for in-game, pre-order bonuses for specific stores. Gathered together by All Games Beta, pictures of all of the content we’ll be seeing for preorder will come in the form of wicked weapons and awesome armor skins.
These days, just about every digital software platform under the sun offers giftcards at retail: Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and iTunes, for example. One major content provider has always lacked a retail presence though: Steam. Sure, Steam offers the ability to gift or trade individual games, but that's more of a specific gift rather than a general one. Plus it required the use of a credit card or PayPal account; you can't make cash transactions online, silly head.
Have you preordered upcoming zombie survival game Dead Island yet? If so, is the retailer Gamestop? If it isn't, you may want to reconsider your options. Gamestop has the exclusive rights to the Dead Island Special Edition which is a fancy name for a pre-order bonus. For a limited time and while supplies last, preorders at Gamestop will be automatically upgraded to the special edition which will score you the Bloodbath Arena DLC ($10 value) for free and before any of your friends. The DLC offers a new arena mode for the game available in both single-player and co-op. Players will battle off waves of zombies where each wave increases in difficulty (sound familar?). You'll be able to bring back the XP and items back to your campaigns, which is pretty sweet. Also provided in the DLC is the exclusive weapon, the brain wave bomb. For those who do not preorder from Gamestop, the Bloodbath Arena DLC will be available for purchase shortly after Dead Island's release. The Dead Island Special Edition will also feature exclusive box art and a blueprint for a special weapon, the "Ripper," which I'm told is the offspring of a baseball bat and a buzz saw.
Giant videogame retailer GameStop has got its foot firmly in the door of digital distribution on the PC side. Today they've announced that they purchased Impulse from Stardock Entertainment. Along with that acquisition, the company purchased startup company Spawn Labs which had technology for videogame streaming.
It seems everyone is hopping on the co-op bandwagon now a days. Gamestop have launched a contest aimed at the co-op gamer for Bethesda's Hunted: The Demon's Forge, the two player co-op action/RPG launching on the 360, PS3, and PC early next year.
If you want to be one of the first lucky few to get your hands on Splinter Cell Conviction's co-op mode almost two weeks before the game launches, you'll have to head to Gamestop in a select few cities for an exclusive Co-Op Event.
For the most part, it's fair to say that GameStop doesn't really side with gamers very often. Ridiculously low trade-in values, bonus content missing from used games, trade-in and pre-order credit not transferrable between stores, clueless employees, etc. marr the shopping experience.
