Better late the never, we needed to come down off the pain this one caused us. Our two hour stream covering Gloomhaven's second mission ended in the best and worst way possible. It shows you just how critical early errors in the mission can cause catastrophic effects later.
We're back for another week of Gloomhaven on PC. The four player co-op strategy game captured our attention last week and the crew couldn't wait to get more. Perhaps the best thing about it is just how well a session fits into an hour or so of play making it bite sized, but still providing solid progress for players.
The other night an extra heavy weight Co-Opticrew dove into the early access version of Gloomhaven, a tactical RPG based on the board game of the same name. In it we check out some four player co-op in the game's Guildmaster mode all while learning the ropes from Locke, who clearly has lived a few lives in these dungeons.
Microsoft is holding its own virtual demo showcase, similar to what Steam did a few weeks back. The focus is on indie games, with over 70 unreleased Xbox games that will be available to download and play between July 21 -27.
As part of the Steam Game Festival 2020, a limited set of games are getting some timeboxed demos. One of those is Project Haven, a tactical RPG set in a gritty futuristic city. There's definitely some Syndicate like vibes from this one, with a splash of XCOM - but Project Haven looks to do some unique things with camera angles possibly giving players some more control.
The Game Bakers’ upcoming game, Haven, has received a new trailer displaying the environment and relationship focused gameplay of the two tethered characters. While the trailer may start a bit cheesy, what follows only a few seconds in is a slice of what may end up being a deeply interpersonal game between two characters who are controlled by two players. The game has no set release date, but if you like the trailer below you can keep an eye out for the game’s release on Nintendo Switch, PC and PlayStation 4.

As 2013 draws to an end and we look ahead to what the new year and next gen consoles will bring, there's plenty that's happened over the past year that's worth a bit of a revisit. Arcen Games has made a name for themselves for making cooperative games within an established genre and adding their own twist, as we've seen with A Valley Without Wind, and to a degree, AI War. The latest game from this seemingly always busy developer is the environmental puzzler (with zombies), Shattered Haven. It's a different take on the usual zombie game and it works, in its own way.
Arcen Games is on a roll. With A Valley Without Wind 2 hitting just a few months ago, the team has already shipped a new release. Shattered Haven is a top-down action adventure game stuffed with roguelike elements that just appeared on GOG.com. It even has a two player local co-op feature, just in case you want to sit down with a friend and outwit some zombies.
