Jamestown Plus, the PS4 version of co-op shmup Jamestown, is dropping on PS4 today, months earlier than originally anticipated. Not to be confused with a simple console port, Jamestown Plus is introducing new content to the game so both veterans and newcomers can all find something new to enjoy.
We loved Jamestown when it was released on PC back in 2011. The indie shooter by developer Final Form Games absolutely emodied co-op gameplay through and through. We loved it so much we gave the game our PC Co-Op GOTY in 2011. Now the game is coming to the PlayStation 4 this summer in a definitive version called Jamestown Plus.
The days are getting longer, warmer, and just a bit more busy. Yes, summer is finally arriving and we've got some fun things planned for you all with our Indie-Ana Co-Op feature. Before we get there, though, we thought we'd do a quick retrospective of some of our winter and spring highlights.
When the Indie-Ana Co-Op feature first began, I always intended to one day extend this space to the indie development community to share their trials and tribulations in game making. Today marks the first of what I hope to be many such pieces as Final Form Games, developers of our PC Co-Op GOTY winner Jamestown, share their story of making a four player 'shmup, and the challenges they faced along the way. This is a must read!
One gamer bursts forth from the primordial goo of the console wars and evolves into a higher being - a PC gamer. Nah, I'm kidding. It's all the same. Or is it?!
2011 was an incredible year for co-op gamers. We saw 100s of releases of co-op games. When we started this site, co-op was barely a bullet point on the back of a box, now it’s a standard feature in many AAA titles. After sifting through all the titles we've weighed in, discussed and voted on our favorites for the year. Here are is the 4th Annual Co-Op Game of the Year Awards.
The latest Humble Indie Bundle, number four to be exact, includes co-op titles Jamestown and Shank along with single player indie games Super Meat Boy, NightSky HD, and Bit.Trip Runner. Spending more than the current average price of about $5.33 will also net you Cave Story and Gratuitous Space Battles.
Sure, you could buy some co-op game for the PS3, Xbox 360, or (insert other generic console here), but c'mon! We both know the truth. We both know that what you really want is a game on a platform where you can tweak those graphics all the way to 11; a platform that holds no illusions about install times, patches, or updates. Staffers Mike "pheriannath" Katsufrakis and Jason "OrigamiPanther" Love are here to point you towards the best hardware and software on which to drop some holiday green.
It's been a busy fall with hot new releases for the co-op and single player enthusiast alike. During this time, then, it seemed like a good opportunity to do a little look back at some of the great indie titles that are out there to enjoy as well!
Last Saturday we brought news of an expansion to the PC 4 player 'shmup, Jamestown; a game that reenvisions the historic settlement of the "New World" in a steampunk/sci-fi setting. The expansion continues with this theme by playing off of another historical event that happened around that same time and which has been im...
Remember, remember the fifth of... well, you know the rest. Indie developer Final Form Games, designer of the spectacular four player co-op 'shmup Jamestown, certainly does. They've announced today on their website that the first DLC for the game will be hitting soon, and it brings with it a new ship and perhap a few other surprises based around the historical event of November 5th...
