Back in 2010, developer Fatshark released an old west themed third person shooter called Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West. It was met with plenty of nodding heads, but as the wheels of time turned the game was all but forgotten. Now, Fatshark has decided to spice the summer up by doing the digital equivalent of throwing a pile of money in the air and watching it rain. 100,000 free copies of Lead and Gold are up for grabs!

Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is free to play this weekend on Steam as well as on sale for 50% off its normal $15 price tag. The game is primarily a versus multiplayer affair but it does offer a two player co-op survival mode called Gold Fever.
Red Dead Redemption isn't the only co-op Western game to come out recently, though it might have been quite a bit more high profile than Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Old West from Swedish developer FatShark. Lead and Gold was released last month on Steam and while the bulk of the game is focused on versus play - the game does offer one two player co-op mode.
