Physical editions of the nostalgic beat 'em up will be released for PlayStation 5 and Switch.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind Physical Editions Coming in May

Digital game releases are the primary distribution model for indie games, but that doesn't mean that some gamers don't want physical versions. Those guys like to look at their cases on the shelf, you know! And some of them will be pleased to learn that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind from Digital Eclipse and Atari will be getting physical releases on May 30. I say "some" because only the PlayStation 5 and Switch versions will get physical releases. Everybody else will need to grab the game digitally.

One of the Turtles' greatest allies will finally be playable in one of the greatest TMNT games.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate Will Get Casey Jones DLC on February 5

When gamers name of the greatest TMNT game, many of them choose TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. That game is certainly a fantastic beat 'em up, but I would argue that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate from Super Evil Megacorp is an even better game. Well, now Splintered Fate is about to get even betterer thanks to the "Casey Jones & the Junkyard Jam" DLC. It's coming to Steam, Switch, and iOS on February 5!

The update brings faster loading, crash fixes, and more to the bug blasting sci-fi shooter.

Earth Defense Force 6 Finally Gets an Update on Steam

I don't want to get too big for my britches or anything, but sometimes we games journalists have a lot of sway in the industry. For instance, we just published our Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 co-op review today, and on the very same day, D3 Publisher finally updates the Steam version of Earth Defense Force 6. Coincidence? I think not! The update fixes a killer crash that afflicted some AMD Radeon users, reduces load times, and more. You're welcome, EDF fans! ;)

It's almost slime time, boys and girls!

Slime Heroes Will Save the Day on Xbox and Steam on February 13

Slimes are a beloved type of monster that appear in Dragon Quest and many other games. Soon, they'll even be getting their own game courtesy of Pancake Games and Whitethorn Games. Slime Heroes is a "Soulslike" action adventure with 2-player local co-op support. That's twice as many slimes! Players will be able to get their hands on all that double slime action on February 13.

This basketball game's got it all: robots, a roguelike mode, and local co-op!

Play Robot Basketball in RoboDunk, Now Available on Console and PC

Arcade-style basketball games like NBA Jam are good, but how do we make them better? With robots, of course! It's a formula as old as time itself. Jollypunch Games has used this common knowledge to create RoboDunk. The robotic basketball game has just arrived on consoles and Steam, and it even features 2-player drop in, drop out local co-op.

Get ready for more zombie-blasting fun.

The House of the Dead 2: Remake Is Finally Coming This Spring

Forever Entertainment's The House of the Dead: Remake was a pretty good new version of the classic Sega light gun shooter, even if the modern graphics lost some of the original's Japanese charm. Thus, we're glad that Forever will be releasing THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake in the spring of this year. The Dreamcast version of HotD2 was terrific, so hopefully, the new version will pack a similar level of gory fun.

Digital Eclipse delivers one of the best-looking 2D beat 'em ups of this generation.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind - Co-op Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge kicked off a wave of nostalgic beat ‘em ups that shows no signs of slowing down. While none of these challengers have managed to match Shredder’s Revenge in quality, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, from Digital Eclipse and Atari, comes the closest so far. With a s...

Bring a buddy bot along in this cooperative 3D platformer.

Boti: Byteland Overclocked Heads from Steam to Consoles on January 10th

Everything's better in co-op, and that includes 3D platformers. Boti: Byteland Overclocked from Purple Ray Studio and Untold Tales is one such game, a robot and technology-themed platformer that debuted on Steam last year. Now Boti is getting ready to head to consoles in January, and it will include both 2-player local and online co-op.

A Metroidvania sequel with both local and online co-op? Yes, please!

Gal Guardians Sequel 'Servants of the Dark' Will Feature Online Co-op

Gal Guardians: Demon Purge was one of my favorite games of 2023, featuring tight Castlevania III-style gameplay and great local co-op. This must be my lucky day, as Inti Creates and PQUBE have just announced a sequel called Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark. The new game will be a full-fledged Metroidvania platformer with support for both local and online co-op, and it's coming to all platforms in March.

Online co-op is still in the oven for some platforms, however.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Rita's Rewind Is Here to Save the Day

Of all the nostalgic beat 'em ups to follow in TMNT: Shredder's Revenge's footsteps in the last couple of years, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind has been the most promising. It features excellent pixel art, 6-player local co-op, and online play. Rita's Rewind has finally arrived on consoles and Steam just in time for the holidays, and it's making good on most of its promises, though some versions don't have online play just yet.

After first launching on consoles, the "Double Dragon DLC" is now on PC too.

The River City Girls 2 'Double Dragon' DLC Finally Arrives on Steam

In November, the console versions of River City Girls 2 received the much anticipated "Double Dragon" DLC, which adds Billy and Jimmy Lee from Double Dragon as playable characters. The Steam version, however, didn't get the DLC or the accompanying free update at that time. Thankfully, Steam gamers won't have to wait any longer: the DLC is out now on PC. Are you ready for some Double Dragon action?
