This Week in Co-Op: Diving Some Moons
Locke and I decided to play some Moon Diver for our This Week in Co-Op session together. We’d both picked it up on a sale a couple weeks ago, intrigued by its artstyle and over-the-top shenanigans.

What an awesome weekend! The whiny Goth couple finally got eliminated from the Amazing Race! I know they were annoying, but I don't really think their departure warranted a celebration at the White House. Man, some people must have really hated that couple. Celebrate by picking up one of these great games.
New Moon Diver DLC has hit the PSN, assuming you can connect to it. A new character and mode are available now, and new modes are coming soon. This isn't budget busting DLC, either. You may recognize the new character (pictured above). His name is Silence, and you battle against him several times over the course of the original game. For a whopping $0.99 you can pick him up, along with a new Score Attack Mode. The Score Attack Mode stage is called "Flow." It features an ever-scrolling level where players compete for a high score. The mode is single player only, but gained XP carries over to the regular game.
Moon Diver has been touted as a spiritual successor to the classic NES action platformer, Strider. The 1989 single-player title was responsible for the deaths of many controllers. The new Moon Diver now has four player co-op. How else has the game evolved in the past 22 years?Find out in our review.
It's Tuesday! Time to run off to your local game distributor to get your new game fix. Some of you may be happily snuggling your 3DS. Others may nursing your 48th lentiuclarly-induced headache, and some of you may be saying things like; "The system is two days old! Time to get something newer and shinier." Well, if you're craving a healthy dose of stylized Chinese military history, or wish to see giant sweaty men hug-out their differences, you're in luck! Here's a list of this week's co-op releases. For more info on each game, just follow the links.
Moon Diver will be gracing the PlayStation Network with its presence before making an appearance on the Xbox Live Arcade. The title has been touted as a spiritual successor to the classic action game, Strider. This is mostly due to the involvement of director Kouichi Yotsui, who was a creative lead on the original Strider. For those of you who are too young to remember the Strider, (curse you and your youth) the game centered around Hiryu, a member of a specially trained group of ninja warriors known as "Striders." In this latest title, the world has gone to hell, and the only ones who can fix it are a new group of specially trained ninjas called, you guessed it, "Moon Divers."
Co-op achievement hunters, rejoice! Upcoming 2D side-scroller Moon Driver for XBLA and PSN will have several co-op achievements, in 2P, 3P, and 4P varieties as detailed below:
Last year, Square-Enix announced a four player co-op game called Moon Diver. It was revealed shortly before E3 and may have been lost is all the hubbub. Moon Diver is 2D side-scrolling, action-platformer that puts players in the tabi boots of four ninjas. The sharp eyes at Silocnera caught new screens that have been appearing on Square-Enix's downloadable game's Facebook page. Many of the screenshots show off some of the ninjas' special moves.
