The Humble Bundle has been a reoccurring bounty in recent times for co-op fans and the trend looks like continuing in the Codemasters sale. For the next three days you can get 8 games for as little as $6, including Operation Flashpoint: Red River and Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising.
Let's face it, with 18 co-op releases in June you are already broke. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you are going to be spending more money on games over the next 10 days. Why? Because Steam is having their annual Summer Sale. These Steam sales are legendary for amazing deals on games. Come August you'll fire up your Steam client and see dozens of games, their names and origin a hazy memory. Playtimes in the single digits. You'll wonder how this happened.
There's some new DLC available for Operation Flashpoint: Red River. Titled "Valley of Death, " this content has eight new Fireteam Engagements. You'll get an additional two missions for each FE mode, including Combat Sweep, CSAR, Last Stand, and Rolling Thunder. These are 4 player online co-op scenarios with objectives like neutralizing all enemies, holding a position, or escort duty. We were a little luke warm on Operation Flashpoint: Red River, giving it a 3.5 out of 5 in our Co-Op Review, due in some part to the character SSgt. Knox. Luckily, the offensive military stereotype doesn't make an appearance in the Fireteam Engagements. If you have three friends who are good at military shooters, there's a lot of fun to be had here.

Holy Cow! We missed two weeks of Co-Op Release Alerts. We're sure that your wallets are absolutely bristling with money, since we haven't been there to tell you which co-op games are available. Didn't this game come out months ago? It sure did, if you live in Europe. Operation Flashpoint: Red River will be gracing North America with its presence next week. This latest video is similar to the others in style. An uber-tough military-type explains the situation: American Marines versus the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army, in a real (but made-up-sounding) country called Tajikistan. It's the kind of video that will have you chanting "USA! USA! USA!" at your computer. I'm home right now, so I'm only weirding-out a baby and two dogs, and who are they to judge me? I was thinking of sending a copy of this game to my cousin. He's currently rooming with a Chinese exchange student... Nah, I'm just kidding. Anyway, the video builds appropriate tension while showcasing some beautiful gameplay footage.
While Steam traditionally has had weekend deals on any of the games on its service, Valve seems to have decided that it hasn't sucked enough money out of our wallets. Operation Flashpoint: Red River is almost upon us. Okay, if you're in Europe it's already here. Nuts to you! In this latest developer diary the good folks at Codemasters discuss the new command wheel used for giving orders, the graphical details of bombs and getting shot, and a host of other things. They manage to do all this while sitting in some sort of dilapidated warehouse. Man, I thought my work space was bad. The game is supposed to be an incredibly realistic military shooter, which is just a fancy way to say that bullets killify everything real good.
For you Co-Optimers in the PAL region, this is an early Co-Op Release Alert, sort of - Operation Flashpoint: Red River will be available this Thursday, April 21st, as planned...for you. For us North Americans, the release date has been shot past May and impacted square on June 7th.
