It's been a startlingly long time since Rainbow 6 Siege first rappelled into our lives and, by all accounts, the game just keeps getting bigger and better.  Ubisoft's provided a lot of details on their next batch of fresh, hot-out-of-the-oven content, so let's dig in.

Last week, we touched on one of the two operators being added in this season of Rainbow 6 Siege's continuous updates.  Wouldn't you know it, Ubisoft has gone ahead and released a (relatively) lengthy gameplay video showing both operators in all their tactical glory.

Ubisoft, never content to rest on their laurels, has continued pouring new maps, items, and operators into their popular multiplayer title, Rainbow 6 Siege.  It's served them well, as the game's playerbase is now reportedly around 45,000,000 strong.  That's nothing to sneeze at. 

Of all the games in need of a "free weekend", I wouldn't necessarily place Rainbow 6 Siege near the top of the list.  In fact, it's done quite well for itself in the two and a half years since its original release.  Having carved out its own healthy community, the game has chugged along, planning out and then delivering on its post-launch content year after year.

Season 3 for Rainbow 6 Siege kicks off today for with Operation Chimera and a limited time co-op event, Outbreak. The new mode tasks three players with fighting off zombies across three missions. There is exclusive loot to be had, if you're into that sort of thing, but you better hurry; while the Operation Chimera content is available for as long as the game keeps going, but the Outbreak event ends April 3.

Season Three for Ubisoft's Rainbow 6 Siege kicks off next month with Operation Chimera and the limited-time co-op event, Outbreak. Before all of that happens, though, you'll have a chance to hop into the game for free and see what's what if you're so inclined.

During yesterday's Rainbow 6 Siege Season 3, Year 2 Pro League tournament, Ubisoft revealed its plans for next year's content. As they spent much of this year improving some things with the game and making sure there was a better foundation for it going forward, the usual four seasons got condensed a bit. Year three will feature four full season and, for the first time, a new co-op limited time co-op event.

Amidst all the battle royales, failed arcade shooters, and rat killing simulators released over the last couple years, Rainbow 6 Siege has continued to chug along, content to quietly release new content for their core, tactics-obsessed audience.  Well, this weekend, Ubisoft is looking to expand said audience with another chance to check the game out for free.

In a recent blog post, Ubisoft acknowledged that it has been nearly two years since their launch of Rainbow 6 Siege, but their plan to keep heaping out content releases hasn’t changed. The post covers their latest, Operation White Noise, but perhaps the most exciting bit is a brief “We will have more news to share on the exciting things to come in Year 3...” early on, meaning that this may just be the start.

In keeping with the road map they laid out earlier this year, the first piece of new DLC (Operation Blood Orchid) since February will be dropping for Rainbow 6 Siege soon. For all you Terrorist Hunt fans out there (and pretty much everyone else, too), two new Operators from the Hong Kong Special Duties Unit (S.D.U.) along with an Operator from Poland's GROM will be available to play along with a new map, a creepy abandoned amusement park.

The original plan for the Year Two DLC content for Rainbow 6 Siege would be, much like last year, it would get released over the course of four "seasons," with new operators, maps, and other goodies released each season. Plans do change, however, and Ubisoft has decided that they need to spend a little time addressing the overall health of the title for now instead of releasing new content.
