Playstation Network has started up a two-week-long sale on spooky games and movies as befits this time of the year. Each week will have a slew of Halloween-esque sales: up to 65% off for everyone, and up to 80% off for PS Plus members. And the good news is that there's a healthy dose of co-op games included in the sale!
At the start of the week Microsoft launched their Ultimate 360 Sale. Each day has pretty much seen at least one co-op game go on sale and Friday is no exception. Today you get the chance to buy Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for 75%, amongst other single player game discounts.
The Xbox Live Ultimate Game Sale continues today with 50%-75% discounts on several Resident Evil games. Half of them feature co-op, oh, happy day! Last year's release of Resident Evil 6 (2-player local or online co-op) is discounted down to $20, as well as Resident Evil 5 (2-player local or online co-op) down to $10 and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (4-player online co-op) down to $20.
There are plenty of "love it or hate it" games, and Resident Evil: Operation City is a good example of such. Okay, it's more of an "accept it or forget it" game, but that's neither here nor there. The point is, it's getting a patch that should greatly improve several gameplay elements.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is getting what I assume will be its final piece of story-based DLC today. "The Echo Six Expansion Pack 2" features the last three missions for the "good guy" Special Ops team. This should put a bow on the Raccoon City adventure as players assist Claire Redfield, battle gruesome B.O.W.s, and attempt to escape the deadly T-Virus outbreak. It's priced at 800 MSP or $10.
We all know that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City didn't seem to keep our hopes up for Capcom's future product line. Regardless of poor reviews and overall bad reception, Capcom has stated that the game has sold close to 2 million copies globally.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was not a good game. I covered the clumsy controls, poor story, and wasted setting in our Co-Op Review. Despite its faults I find myself drawn to the title. Maybe I hope that it will somehow get better, even though I've already experienced the game in its entirety. New Spec Ops DLC launched yesterday, and I don't know if I can convince myself to take the plunge.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is getting a dose of DLC today. Players will be able to take control of the good guys in a new prologue mission. Play as the Echo Six Spec Ops team and do battle with the Umbrella Security Service, Nemesis, and a zombie filled Raccoon City.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City seeks to rewrite the history of one of the most iconic events in the Resident Evil universe: the contamination, infection, and destruction of Raccoon City. The Resident Evil franchise branches out into the military shooter genre today. Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City is a squad-based third-person shooter which focuses on the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3. Players will not be taking on the rolls of heroic S.T.A.R.S agents in this adventure. Instead you'll be acting on behalf of Umbrella, the misunderstood global conglomerate whose products just so happen to cause zombie apocalypses and some mild to severe monsterism.
This week we have two team-based co-op games launching; one featuring mechs, the other featuring zombies. Another game centers on ninjas. I'll let you guess which one. Mechs, zombies, and ninjas? All we need now are some aliens and we'll have the quadrilateral base of the perfect gaming Pyramid of Villainy. Cap it all off with some Nazis and we'll have ourselves a party! (Nazis always cap the pyramid. Always.)
Don't you hate it when each retailer offers a different piece of preorder DLC and you just can't get them all without skipping out on paying your rent? Sometimes you can buy the DLC later online and sometimes you can't. Well, everyone has a fair chance at Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City's preorder DLC.
