Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is on store shelves, but the two player co-op game hasn't dropped out of the news quite yet. After a story broke earlier this week about the lack of ability to delete a saved game file, controversy has been brewing around the title.  Gamestop actually refused to allow trade-ins of the game earlier this week after learning of the "feature."  Now though, the retailer has reversed its decision in a quote to IGN.  

There have been reports that save game files cannot be deleted from the Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D game cartridge.  Several gaming sites have reported that the instruction manual specifically states that, "saved data on this software cannot be reset."  This has lead people to believe that Capcom has done this specifically to curb (stomp) used game sales.  Since the saved data can't be reset, people who buy a used copy of the game won't be able to start a new game from scratch.   Gamers have speculated that this will greatly detract from the Mercenaries 3D's trade in value.

This week's co-op releases are a little bit portable, and a little bit niche.  We'll get a reason to dust off our 3DS's as well as mix giant robots - sorry, mobile suits - with the Dynasty Warriors formula.  Are you ready?

There's been plenty of times when we've said a trailer "kicks ass," but never have we meant it more than the latest trailer for Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.  By our count there are at least two dozen karate kick action sequences in this trailer which features the full arsenal of playable characters: Chris, Claire, Rebecca, Jill, Wesker and Klouser.  

We have two new trailers for Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.  These vids can be seen back to back in the following magical movie window.  They're packed full of gameplay footage, and as an added bonus, they're in Japanese!  Looks like there will be plenty of first person aiming, melee attacks, and body spraying (:52 mark).

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will be out in a little over a month, and we've got the fake news broadcast to prove it.  This latest video blends live action anchors with footage from the game, and is worth watching to the end.  Look closely and you can see Wesker get a two-fer with a double-barreled sawed-off.  Yippie.  

When checking out Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D at PAX East, we did describe it as a beautiful game. It turns out there was no visual trick to that beauty, as Capcom has come forward to reveal they’ve reused some console assets when designing The Mercenaries 3D to really bring the game a console feel on a portable platform.

Today we have a new teaser for Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.  It's short and sweet, and mentions the two player co-op along with 30 missions.  It may only be about half as long as the recent Saint's Row: The Third trailer, but it has almost 16 times the action.  We can expect to begin our "war on horror" later this year when the game releases on the Nintendo 3DS.

With all the news about Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, you may have forgotten about another, smaller, 3D-ier Resident Evil.  Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is coming to the Nintendo 3DS, and this latest trailer looks amazing.  The minute long clip features Jill and Wesker, and the graphics are truly impressive (maybe a little too impressive).

Nintendo's 3DS handheld console launches today in the UK and Australia, while the system will launch in North America on Sunday the 27th.  Priced at $250, this marks Nintendo's most expensive handheld to date, but also its most ambitious.  The main feature is obviously the glasses free 3D screen for games and video, but there's a lot more packed into the little hand held than meets the eye.

It's hard to believe that PAX East 2011 is already a week gone. The Co-Opticrew got some great hands on time with a ton of awesome games and are more excited than ever about the upcoming year of co-op titles. Here's the round-up of coverage.

Getting your hands on a new piece of hardware is always an exciting experience. I feel that waiting until a week after trying out the newest in the line of Nintendo handheld’s has given me time to process the experience, and separate it from the excitement for a fair preview. While trying out the 3DS I also happened to play the first co-op title on the system - Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. I suppose we could call this a double whammy, two birds with one stone, or the most convenient hardware trial available to a co-op website at PAX East.
