Splatoon is Nintendo's series of third-person shooters in which teams of players cooperate or compete to paint environments and each other. The latest game in the series, Splatoon 3,  is due out on September 9. To celebrate the occasion, Nintendo will be releasing both a Splatoon-themed OLED Switch console and a Pro Controller for Switch. Both pieces of hardware look appropriately colorful indeed.

While the overall goal of Splatoon 2's co-op mode, Salmon Run, is fairly straightforward, the different permutations (i.e., local/adhoc network vs online), when you can play online, how you can connect with friends, and the rewards is a bit confusing. We've done our best to break this down and answer some of the more frequent questions about it.

While Nintendo announced "Salmon Run", a kind of four player horde mode for the forthcoming Splatoon 2, during a Nintendo Direct back in April, they've been holding off on demoing the mode until E3. Along with a live presentation during their Treehouse stream, many attendees got their hands on the new mode and initial impressions are good.

In their most recent Nintendo Direct, the eponymous titan of gaming spent a bit of time on Splatoon 2, the sequel to their squid/kid action... painter.  The original Splatoon went over quite well, despite its home on the flailing Wii U, so it's quite natural that Nintendo would want to translate that success onto a console that people actually own.
