Starhawk, the build and battle space shooter, launched exclusively for the PlayStation 3 today. It features intense multiplayer battles, an epic single player campaign, and (I hope) and equally satisfying co-op mode. The latest launch trailer looks very promising. Somehow it manages to be awesome even though it lacks a single "wub." Amazing.
The PlayStation 3 exclusive space shooter, Starhawk, is coming out next week. It's a third person shooter that features space combat, mechs, energy weapons, orbital building drops, and twangy music. It also features a co-op survival mode for up to four players.
A new trailer has surfaced for the upcoming third-person shooter, Starhawk. The game's space western vibe is in full effect as we're introduced to "blue gold," the rift energy that drives the fortunes of men like our protagonist, Emmett Graves. This game is really tickling my fun zone. The beta was a blast and the gameplay footage from this trailer looks amazing.
If you were wondering what split screen would look like in Starhawk, there you have it. LightBox Interactive will be making the most out of their precious split screen real estate while trying to decrease the stretch of their aspect ratio. After playing the beta, I have to say that a full mini-map is a welcome sight. Anything would be better than the vaccuum of black space I've seen in other split screen layouts. I'm looking at you, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Fear 3, Lost Planet 2, and Resident Evil 5; the list goes on.
Did you remember to sign up for Starhawk's multiplayer public beta? Of course you did. What kind of forgetful cad would miss out on the totally open beta that began on February 21st? Good news, everyone! I was browsing through Amazon's Starhawk page and spotted this little gem under the product features:
Gamescom 2011 is in full effect. This new video for Starhawk just dropped. And when we say dropped, when mean it. Watch and you'll see. There's no mistaking the co-op here. As we've reported earlier, Starhawk features a four player online co-op mode. The more we see of this PlayStation 3 exclusive the better it looks. We get tips all the time about Warhawk and adding it to our database of co-op games, despite it being a team based shooter. But it seems the game's sequel may find a permanent home in the halls of Co-Optimus thanks to a story based co-op campaign. That's the latest rumor coming from OPM magazine concerning Starhawk.
Warhawk 2 was recently seen at a super secret SCEA event. JustPushStart.com claims that select players of the PS3 launch title were invited to play, and no cameras were allowed. This story may sound like a crappy April Fool's joke, but the story has had a week to marinate, and no one has denied it, yet. Co-op play has been listed among the games features, and there is reportedly and actual story mode. You can read more features after the break. Right now, Warhawk 2 is rumored to hit the PS3 in 2012.
