A short video has been released for Elite: Dangerous, the new game in the long-running series of open world combat/space trading games. It shows off several minutes of gameplay and outlines the upcoming game's multiplayer modes, including a brief snippet of co-op play.
The bulk of the gameplay in Elite: Dangerous is focused on combat, resource gathering, trading and exploration. Online multiplayer is largely competitive in nature. A sort of "first to shoot gets the loot" scenario. There are special co-op missions you can initiate that give players cause to band together in teams, however. The video below shows executive producer Michael Brookes protecting a battlecruiser alongside a teammate, shown in green.
Elite: Dangerous is currently in phase 2.0 alpha. The team plans on releasing a few more major updates before beta begins. Backers who pre-order the game get access to the alpha releases as well as the feedback forum.
