Standalone Killzone: Shadow Fall's Intercept Mode Now Available on PS Store

Fully compatible with the expansion pack too!

Unfortunately, there are only a few PS4 games being offered this summer that can satisfy the hardcore co-op gamers out there. Luckily, Sony has released a version of Killzone: Shadow Fall's co-op mode, "Intercept", as a standalone game. Even if you don't own a copy of the original title, Intercept can be purchased without the latter.

But what is Intercept Mode anyway? Sort of a mix between Battlefield 3's Conquest Mode and Gears of War 3's Horde Mode, up to 4-players assume the roles of elite VSA team members in Intelligence Squad Alpha. Your team's primary goal is to relay intercepted military transmissions back to your headquarters by capturing Uplink points. While holding these positions, enemy Helghast troops will be constantly thrown at your team while defending yourself.

Each player assumes an assigned Combat Role on the team: Assault, Marksman, Medic, or Tactician, and each has their own unique set of weaponry and skills. Of course, everyone will need to use them effectively as a team to survive the onslaught and establish a secure connection at the Uplink points. At the same time, however, the AI enemies will also have their own Combat Roles and work together to target your weak points and recapture the location from you.

The standalone version of Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept is also fully compatible with the already released expansion pack DLC, if interested. Additionally, four playable co-op maps will be included along with it, as well as more free maps to come in the future. Customers can now download the game off of the PlayStation Store for only $19.99. If you would like to know our own impressions of Intercept, please do read our previous article here.
