Finally, the game proving that all that time in elementary school on the monkey bars was not a waste, is here. Dying Light hit store and virtual shelves today, and the good folks down at Deep Silver wanted us to revel in the austere tone of their four player co-op zombie slaughter fest with a launch trailer.
The premise, summarized by Deep Silver themselves, is as follows: you take the reigns of Kyle Crane, an undercover agent sent on a totally bananas mission into the zombie-infested quarantine zone to recover a high-ranking military official. No word on how Kyle obtained his superhuman agility. Maybe he moonlighted teaching CrossFit lessons. Maybe he majored in Parkour at Mirror's Edge University.
I enjoyed the analogue melee combat in the original Dead Island game. Dying Light combes a terrible amount of things I like here: free running, open world, and a dynamic day/night cycle. That being said: is Dying Light going to stand triumphantly above the ocean of zombie games out there? Let's hope these things blend together in a gratifyingly unique experience in a genre bogged down with countless entries.
