After 8 months since it first entered Early Access, Question's The Blackout Club will see a full release at the end of next month. Soon you and your friends will be able to team up online and try to solve the mysterious disappearances in your hometown while also attempting to avoid getting snatched yourselves.
We spent a little time last Fall playing the title in its new Early Access state and came away impressed. The main gameplay focus is to sneak around an area and accomplish some objective while avoiding being caught by adults that are under the influence of a mysterious "boogeyman," called Angel. Avoiding the adults is easy, the tough (and scary) part comes when Angel steps onto the field and you cannot see him/it unless you close your eyes. The idea of "horror" in a co-op game can be tough to pull off as you'll always have some buddy in your ear saying something that sucks all the scare out of a moment, but The Blackout Club does a really great job of ramping up that tension and anxiety so it's felt by everyone.
The Blackout Club will be available as a full release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 30, 2019. Four player drop-in/drop-out co-op is supported throughout the story. You can also pick it up now in Early Access for 20% off as part of the Steam Summer Sale.
