Zombies and Nazis go together like peanut butter and jelly - evil versions of peanut butter and jelly, that is. The upcoming Projekt Z: Beyond Order from Modus Games (publisher of Double Dragon Gaiden) takes place on an island in which the Nazis have tried to harness zombies as weapons. Presumably, it doesn't go very well, because players will be shooting lots of those Axis zombies in online co-op.
Projekt Z will feature two modes, both of which support 4-player online co-op:
Beyond Order Core Game Mode
You have the Hideout, you can craft weapons, ammo, and other consumables here. You will also be able to build structures inside the Hideout (similar to Fallout 4's settlement building). From the Hideout, you start missions. Missions belong to a story arc and can influence each other, depending on the order in which you do them.
Story arcs have a beginning and an end and shall not be stretched indefinitely. After all, the best stories are those that were planned with a definitive end in mind. During missions, you can find items, building materials, and recruit personnel for your Hideout. Missions can be repeated for gathering more materials/loot.
Beyond Order Wave Survival Mode
The Wave Survival mode is a standalone mode, separate from the game’s core experience. In this mode, you must fight for your life, killing endless waves of zombies and upgrading your weapons and character between waves of enemies.
Newly revealed alpha footage depicts a fairly exciting-looking shooter, although the orange and teal color grading is a bit on the ugly side. Let's try some brighter and more natural colors, developers!
Projekt Z will arrive on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and Steam sometime in the future. Modus promises that preorders will open soon, at which point we should find out when the game is supposed to arrive. Learn more at ProjektZGame.com.
