D3 Publisher's recently released CUSTOM MECH WARS for PlayStation 5 and Steam is a game in which players complete simple campaign missions to find mech parts and progress the story. Teaming up with friends and showing off your custom mechs is half the fun, but multiplayer isn't available at the start. We'll tell you how to unlock co-op and how it works.
Unlocking Multiplayer
Unlocking multiplayer isn't as simple as just completing a tutorial, but it's still fairly easy.
- Complete Campaign missions 1-3 by yourself.
- After clearing Mission 3, the game will display a message saying to try customizing your G-Mech in the Hangar.
- Back out of campaign, and the Multiplayer option will now appear on the main menu. You've unlocked it!
How Multiplayer Works
in the Multiplayer menu, players can choose to select an open room from a list, create their own room, or find a room using search parameters. The game supports up to 4-player online co-op.
Initially, only Mission 2 will be unlocked. This is the same Mission 2 from the single-player campaign. Mission unlocking progress is separate between single-player and multiplayer, so you'll need to play through all of the missions in Multiplayer if you want them to be unlocked for co-op. Playing with others is more fun and lets you show off and view custom mech creations, so be sure to dive into Multiplayer as soon as you can!
Custom Mech Wars sells for $49.99 on PlayStation 5 and Steam. The game also comes in a $65 edition that bundles the game with the Earth Defense Force Collab DLC.
