Last year, Arc System Works released Double Dragon Advance and Super Double Dragon on all major platforms, allowing fans to experience two of the best games in the Double Dragon series on modern hardware. At the same time, they quietly published Double Dragon Collection for the Nintendo Switch in Asian markets. While that version has been available to import for a while, collectors now have the chance to preorder an official North American version from Limited Run Games.
Double Dragon Collection is a Nintendo Switch-exclusive collection of Double Dragon, Double Dragon II, and Double Dragon III (NES versions); Super Double Dragon; Double Dragon Advance; and Double Dragon IV. All games support 2-player local co-op, and Double Dragon IV also supports 2-player online co-op. The collection is only sold in physical format, much to my chagrin.
Limited Run has opened preorders for both a $39.99 standard edition and a $99.99 collector's edition of Double Dragon Collection. The collector's edition includes a physical copy of the game, a collector's box with slip cover, an acrylic diorama, a set of three keychains, and a set of Billy and Jimmy Lee action figures. Why are Jimmy's pants blue on the cover and action figure? I don't know, but it's still a really cool collector's edition.
Preorders for Limited Run's Double Dragon Collection close on Sunday, July 7. The standard physical edition of the game will be available starting on Friday, June 14. If limited editions aren't your style, you can also import the Asian version of the collection from Play-Asia.
