A while ago I posted an article about the Dark Souls Collector's Edition--What's that? That was yesterday? Are you sure? I thought I put that up months ago...having a kid is hard... Anyway, in that article I listed Dark Souls as having 2 player online co-op. A longtime member of Co-Optimus, Psyclops, pointed out that one could clearly see 3 player co-op in the trailers. I immediately went looking for this alleged co-op footage, and found this gem, posted by our brilliant resident foreigner, Sam. It features a teeny-tiny glimpse of what might be 3 player co-op. I blinked while watching it, so there's no way to be sure. Could Psyclops be wrong?
I then found another trailer that I may have overlooked. Long story short, this Dark Souls trailer features all sorts of enemies waiting to kill you. If you look closely, you can just make out some co-op footage between the 1:46 and 1:53 mark. If you blink for seven seconds, you'll miss it.
Okay, it's pretty clear that the game supports 3 player co-op, just like its predecessor, Demon's Souls. Sorry about the mistake, and thanks for the tip, Psyclops. Dark Souls launches this October for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Until then, enjoy this cool trailer.
