About that public beta? Nevermind. That's what I get for following a lead from a site that can't mind their k's and q's. It seems that I got caught up in a game of telephone, and there will NOT be a public beta for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. I am truly sorry.
Capcom PR issued this statement:
There has been some media coverage this week stating Capcom will run a public beta and release a demo for its upcoming title Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City. Unfortunately this was due to a website misreporting what was said during an interview.
Although we will not be releasing a consumer demo or hosting a beta there will be plenty of opportunities for fans to play the game before it releases on March 20th in North America and March 23rd in Europe. Stay tuned to Capcom-Unity and Capcom Europe for more information on our upcoming first to play community events for Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City.
If I can interpret this statement correctly, it appears that Capcom will not be releasing a consumer demo or hosting a beta. Bummer. Looks like we'll have to wait until March before we hunt down Leon Kennedy and the rest of the survivors of the 'incident' at Raccoon City.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is scheduled for a March 20th release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. It supports four player online co-op.
