While it isn't a release date, we do have a release window for Diablo 3. The game is being targeted at a 2nd quarter 2012 launch - which puts it firmly in the April, May June window. This news comes from Activision's quarterly financial report, specifically a slide deck made available for investors.
If you've been browsing through PlayStation Store you may have noticed a few rough editions. Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, and the sequel, Kane & Lynch: Dog Days, are now available for download. Both of the games received mixed reviews, but they're pretty good with a co-op partner. If you haven't played them yet, you may want to embrace your inner criminal and take one of these for a spin.
Trade events sometimes leak news of a game prior to the title's official announcement. That appears to be the case with LittleBigPlanet Karting, a kart racer-based spin-off of the LittleBigPlanet series. We don't know if this new Playstation 3 racer will support co-op yet, but more LittleBigPlanet is always a good thing... Especially if it's anything like Crash Team Racing.
In case you missed it: Dead Block recently launched on PC. It's a tower defense/action game where four players battle against, wait for it, a ZOMBIE HORDE! Set in the 1950s, the invention of Rock n' Roll has spawned a "musical plague" which threatens all of mankind. Build traps and barricades, upgrade weapons, and use one of three unique characters to survive the night. The stylized graphics and campy humor may make this title worth another look.
Resident Evil 5 had strong co-op, and now we look to Resident Evil: Revelations to continue the trend. Can a portable side-story about Jill Valentine and her new pudgy partner Parker searching for Chris satisfy our co-op needs?
On Tuesday, I hit up the train to Midtown to attend EA's Spotlight event. Our own Nick Puleo was originally planning on attending said festivities, but he was sadly down for the count, incapacitated by a nasty cough.
Kinect Star Wars may have been delayed, but it's finally arriving on April 3rd, as well as its limited-edition console bundle. Unfortunately, this is two days late to be an April Fool's joke, because the rumored Galactic Dance-Off mode will be coming along for the ride as well.
If you are like me you have been playing the Twisted Metal demo religiously over the past week, trying to squeeze out everything you can out before the release of the game on February 14. The demo is exceedingly fun, that is, if you can get into a match. There has been trouble on the server side of things and connectivity has been mediocre at best, where some nights it would take over fifteen mintues to get into a match. Once in, however I was back in my glory days, and as a huge Twisted Metal fan I am anxious to get my hands on the full version.
In case you haven't heard, Shank 2 is coming to the XBLA, PSN, and PC this week. The violent, stylized 2D brawler offers gamers a cooperative survival mode. While it's no co-op campaign, it looks like it will have more substance than your simple wave-based yawn-fest. Shank 2's survival mode will offer unlockable outfits and upgrades at the waves progress, which is better than a swift kick in the junk.
NeverDead has been out for all of eight freaking days and new DLC has already been announced. The deftly titled "Expansion Pack Volume 1" will be released on February 21st for $9.99 on the PSN, or 800 Microsoft funbucks on the XBLA. It will include a new playable character for the game's co-op mode, additional challenges for the Asylum level, and new costumes for the main character, demon stomper Bryce Boltzman.
The latest Kinect Xbox Live Arcade game comes from the creative and good-natured folks at Double Fine. Up to six players can team up and goof around together in Happy Action Theater's 18 short activities. The lack of structure and goals might limit the game's appeal, though.
The "limited edition" of Starhawk has been announced, and rather than spend extra money on a giant box filled with art books, soundtracks, and statues - you'll be getting a whole bunch of digital pack ins for the same price as the normal version. The biggest piece of content included for co-op players is a map called Maw of Despair, which is a particularly challenging cooperative mission for four players.
