Bodycount Developer Diary Part 2, Plus Some Co-Op Info

This is part two of the Bodycount: Behind the Bullets developer diary.    Like the previous entry, the video is a mishmash of cuts and smash cuts, aided by some snazzy sound effects.  The way the whole thing is shot and edited is rather silly, but it does have some nice nuggets of information. The developers discuss the differing environments, character design inspiration, and enemy AI.  There are some juicy bits of gameplay footage near the end, be sure to check it out.

More guns, more glory.

EDF: Insect Armageddon Pre-Order Bonuses are Available for Download

The pre-order bonus guns for Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon are now available as DLC on both the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Store.  These were the pre-order bonuses offered through Best Buy and GameStop.  The gun packs are called "Death from Above" and "Pounds of Pain," and they're mostly centered on the Jet Armor and Battle Armor, respectively.  A few other weapons for the Tactical and Trooper armor sets have been tossed in for kicks.  You can see them in action here.  The DLC will cost you 240 Microsoft Points, or $2.99 in real money.

Co-Op confirmed (again)? Only time will tell.

Mass Effect 3 to have "Multiplayer" Claims Magazine Cover

Here we go, here we go, here we go again.  What's this business?  Multiplayer in Mass Effect 3.  It's been rumored many times, it's been shot down many times, but the dang thing just keeps coming back like some succubus from the underworld.  This time it's not a job posting or a he said, she said, kind of scenario.  Instead we have a magazine cover mentioning multiplayer for the game.

It's just the two of you from here on out.

New Video for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Special Ops Co-Op Mode

The other day I was having a conversation about the stacked Fall game release schedule.  My buddy mentioned pre-ordering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3.  I told him point-blank that I don't get too excited for the military shooters.  I scoffed at his lowest common denominator gaming ambitions.  Then I admitted that I always end up preordering Call of Duty about three days before launch.  By then the massive ad campaign has inevitably hypno-toaded me into submission.  Videos like this will simply crush any chance I had of not buying CoD: MW3.  All glory to the CO-OP MODE!

Nice gun leg.

Another Video for a Ridiculous Anarchy Reigns Character

Meet Anarchy Reign's latest character, Durga.  He's like a tiger-man, but with a cannon leg.  He's got a bionic tail and everything.  Yep, that's a picture of it up there.  The leg, not the tail.  It's a revolver, because a magazine or belt-fed cannon would just be stupid.  I really don't know what else to say about him.  The characters in Anarchy Reigns are ridiculously over the top, from Mad World's awesome Jack, to the "I-can't-believe-he-won't-get-altered-in-localization-due-to-the-fact-that-he's-incredibly-offensive" Blacker Baron.  The game still needed some work when I played it at E3, but the characters were fun and intriguing.  I won't write it off, mainly because I saw slots for 17 playable characters, and we haven't seen them all, yet.  Each one's more ludicrous than the last.  I can't wait to see what the mad minds at Platinum Games come up with next.

In a world where you want to be a kid again and play with these awesome toys....

This Skylanders Commercial Makes you Wish you Were 10 Again

The latest trailer for Skylanders: Spyro's Adventures has hit the intertubes.  Shot in a commercial style format, one remincent of what you'd see between Saturday morning cartoons, this trailer makes you wish you were a kid again.  Screw it, I'm still a kid - and I'm totally getting these things when it comes out.

New Dead Island Trailer Is All About the Co-Op

The release of Dead Island is almost upon us, and this latest video has some gooey zombie mayhem to whet your appetite.  The focus of this trailer is co-op, and you can watch the four characters dishing out undead double death.  You'll even get a glimpse at some of the special zombies.  I call the zombie at 1:06 "Lumpy," 1:13 "Stumpy," and 1:23 "Bitey."  You'll see why.  There's also some nice electro weapons thrown into the mix.  I got to play an hour of Dead Island at E3 and was very impressed with what I saw.  It's like a more physical,  juicier version of Left 4 Dead with strong RPG elements.  You'll have a skill tree, craft weapons, and interact with NPC's to get side missions.
