And the Smoke Cleared, and There Stood Rayman: Origins, As If He'd Never Left

Originally announced at E3 2010 as an episodic downloadable title, Rayman: Origins fell out of the limelight for a long time. After rumors floated around earlier this month the game has finally resurfaced as a full retail outing for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii. As of yesterday it's also available for pre-order, with Amazon specifying a November 15th release date.

Trenched Developers Don't Want Any Haterade

It's just a couple of dudes sitting around and relaxing, having a few beers, and talking shop.  The first developer diary for the Xbox Live Arcade game Trenched is one of  the most laid back and down to earth dev diaries you'll ever see.  In it we learn how Trenched started as part of a studio wide brainstorming session where a bunch of games got created in a short period of time; games like Stacking and Costume Quest.

PSP Games Go HD To The PS3

It's looking like HD is going the way of handheld gaming, only not exactly. Sony is launching a campaign for popular PSP games to be remastered in HD on the PS3. The first game to be remastered from PSP to PS3 is Monster Hunter Portable 3rd- in Japan. We're not sure what games will be released from PSP to PS3 in North America or Europe, but we can think of a few great co-op games that would look really great all dressed up in HD.

The War Continues in Arma 3

Boehmia Interactive have announced Arma 3, the sequel to Arma 2.  Shocking, I know.  The series is created by many of the original developers of the first Operation Flashpoint game and it retains a gritty and realistic look at war.  Along with this, the Arma games focus on realistic vehicles and weapons to try to emulate an authentic experience.

Twelve Minutes of Dead Island Gameplay Footage

We've seen the trailers, both of them.  But what about the gameplay?  Is Dead Island going to be a moody survival horror game, an action-packed race to safe houses, or something else entirely?  The following video has some answers for us.  Dead Island's gameplay is looking more like Fallout 3 than Resident Evil or Left 4 Dead.  You'll meet up with NPC's, repair your weapons, and numbers will spray from your enemies as you damage them.  You'll also see different enemy types as well as get a sense of scale for the island of Banoi (it's big enough to incorporate a fast-travel system). The video shows only single player footage, but we can get a good idea of where things are going from here.  It looks like consoles may finally get a giant open world action RPG that supports cooperative play.
