3rd party headsets popular, adapter incoming

Xbox One Headset Revelations

It was just last week we learned that the Xbox One would forgo including a headset in the box for online chat. Instead the system would rely on its Kinect peripheral for your voice chatting needs. For a myriad of reasons this isn't ideal, but perhaps more eye opening is the fact that existing 3rd party headsets would not work with the Xbox One. So we did what any good site would do, we hit up our community.

E3 2013 - Co-Optimus Wrap Up Video

This year E3 felt like a blur, so luckily we captured it on film for everyone to enjoy and remember. Take a quick glimpse of what the show is like in this video from the Co-Opticrew that was in Los Angeles.

E3 2013 - Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep Hands-On Impressions

If nothing else, the DLC for Borderlands 2 has been uneven in quality. After a strong start with Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty, the next two installments, Mr Torgue's Campaign of Carnage & Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt didn't click with us quite as much. Fortunately, after putting about a half hour into the upcoming Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, it seems like Gearbox may be delivering the best expansion to the Borderlands world yet.

E3 2013 - Co-Optimus Game of Show Awards

E3 2013 has wrapped and the long, hot summer of anticipation has begun. We were granted access to next-gen consoles and THE GAMES OF TOMORROW. Wielding our co-op gaming expertise, we have judged the offerings of industry titans and pugnacious indies. We created the Co-Optimus E3 2013 Game of Show Award to separate the lavish trailers and spectacular booths from real, hands-on gameplay. There are several contenders, but there is only one winner.. To qualify, the game had to have be playable cooperatively. That’s it. These are the co-op games to watch in the months to come. These are the titles that made an impression in a sea of digital escapism. These are our Co-Optimus E3 2013 Game of Show Nominees! Oh, and one standout winner.

E3 2013 - Dark Souls 2 Hands-On Impressions

Dark Souls 2. Played it. Got killed. No big deal. Alright. I'll try to keep this post from getting ridiculously long, but no promises. Once I get going on the Souls games I kind of... well, let's see what happens. While I didn't have time to reflect upon the nuances of any of the ornate carvings that adorned my surroundings and whatever godforsaken lore they might allude to, I can tell you I noticed plenty of changes during my brief time with From Software's baby.

E3 2013 - NVidia Shield Hands on Impressions

The NVIDIA Shield went up for pre-order just a few weeks ago. The Android powered controller is a unique take on mobile gaming, giving players two distinct ways to play games on the go. The device features a 5" Tegra 4 powered Android screen matched with a fully functional gaming controller. But you aren't limited to just Android games on this device - you can stream games from Steam.

E3 2013 - Takedown: Red Sabre Co-Op Hands on Impressions and Video Interview

I'm an old school PC gamer at heart. I remember some of the best years of PC gaming, especially around the time I went to college. We had titles like Half-Life, Diablo and Rainbow Six hitting their peak then and some of my best memories are playing those games in co-op or multiplayer. While the Rainbow Six franchise has mostly lived on, it's undergone several changes along the way - what we have now is a bit softer. Enter Takedown: Red Sabre - a big boy (or girl) tactical shooter.

E3 2013 - Armored Core: Verdict Day Hands-On Impressions and Video Interview

I spent a few minutes at the controls of Armored Core: Verdict Day. I didn't really take the time to drink it all in. Not much has changed as far as core gameplay is concerned. So if you enjoyed the mech combat from ACV you'll find yourself right at home behind the twin sticks. Despite the similarities to the title Armored Core V, this game will be a full sequel, including a new story, characters, and persistent world.  There will still be plenty of content for single, co-op, and versus players.

E3 2013 - Earth Defense Force 2025 Developer Interview

I got the chance to play some great games at E3 this year. I'm not going to lie - it's pretty awesome to get a early little hands-on time with some of  my most anticipate cooperative titles. One of those games was the third-person sci-fi shooter, Earth Defense Force 2025. Players must defend mankind from armies of giant insects and massive robots. Part of the fun is destroying your own city while trying to eradicate the Ravager menace. It's just easier to shoot bugs when those pesky buildings are out of the way.
