Developer Neocore Games - best known for the Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing series of games - has shown off a little more of their next title, Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr. The game is set within the Caligari Sector of the Warhammer 40k universe and it will feature specific co-op missions that will have an affect on the rest of the sector.
Inquisitor - Martyr's gameplay will be action-RPG focused and it appears it will also incorporate some of the "base of operations" ideas seen in Neocore's previous titles. The campaign itself is split a little. There's the single-player campaign that will focus on exploring and uncovering the secret of an abandoned fortress-monastery, the Martyr, and there's the "Inquisitorial Campaign," or the open-world map that will have a variety of missions to undertake. Some of those missions will allow up to four players to play together.
The types of missions that appear and can be completed will, in part, be affected by players choosing to side with particular factions. Certain special events will force players to choose one faction over the other. Depending on the side that wins this meta battle, the next special event (and the missions surrounding it) will change. It's not exactly an MMO, but Inquisitor - Martyr is aiming to have the actions of the community shape and affect what happens within the borders of the Caligari Sector.
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is slated for a 2017 release on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
